General Information
The House of Photography Dr. The Robert-Gerlich-Museum was founded in 1983 and in 1986 it was made a focus museum for photography. It provides an insight into the medium of photography.
Changing national and international art exhibitions with positions on contemporary photography and video art are presented in the House of Photography.
The gallery for contemporary photography with photography icons from its own collection and the extensive camera collection, which depicts 170 years of photography, also offers a deeper understanding of the subject of photography.
The House of Photography houses, among other things, the photo archive of the city of Burghausen with the photographic documentation of the development of the city in architecture, economy, social life, politics and culture right back to the beginnings of photography.
In 1998 the museum was named after the founder and longtime director Dr. named Robert Gerlich.
