Burghausen offers a wide range of cultural events all year round, including the annual one International Jazz Week, which is one of the largest jazz festivals in the world and where almost all jazz greats have been guests. The city's jazz program is supplemented by the summer format Jazz at the Bichl, the jazz courses with experienced lecturers and the jazz autumn.

The master concerts with international classical virtuosos in the magnificent baroque auditorium offer a lavish concert and drama program at a high level and for almost every taste Kurfürst-Maximilian Gymnasium and guest performances at renowned German theaters.

In recent years, Burghausen has become a venue for various festivals, such as LOOK INTO THE FUTURE festival, the reading festival Literature Live, the Cinema and culture summer Raitenhaslach and the Burghauser concert summer at the castle made a name for itself.

The series "culture in the monastery“ fills the extraordinary ambience of the former Cistercian monastery Raitenhaslach with high-quality events from classical concerts, readings, lectures to discussion formats “Red Salon".

A cultural center for everyone is the Anchor Hall – a listed art house cinema in the center of the old town. The cinema offers culture lovers a specially selected, sophisticated film and event program. Velvety red 50s cinema seats, elegant fabric-covered walls and illustrious ceiling frescoes in the style of the time make every visit to the cinema a journey into another world. Concerts, cabaret events and literature complete the programme.

The children's and youth program for children from the age of three ranges from theatres, family operas to workshops. The offers can be booked as school performances.

The independent cultural scene is also active in Burghausen: the program ranges from cabaret, theatre, comedy slams and literature to concerts from classical music to punk.

A special feature of the city are its many unique venues. In addition to large halls such as the Stadtsaal, the Wackerhalle, the Bürgersaal or the large auditorium of the Kurfürst-Maximilian-Gymnasium, there are also venues with a special flair such as the Jazzkeller, the former Raitenhaslach Monastery (today TU Academy Center) or the Anchor Hall.
