A place of contemplation, a place of diversity, a place of experience and thought - the former Cistercian monastery Raitenhaslach on the outskirts of Burghausen enriches the cultural life in the region between Munich, Salzburg and Passau as a cultural ensemble.

The culturally and historically significant ensemble passed into the hands of the city of Burghausen in 2003. The purchase of this culturally significant building complex, which is unique in terms of its building fabric, entails a great deal of responsibility, which Burghausen faces creatively and appropriately for the location.

The wonderful large ballroom, formerly known as the "Steinerner Saal", has been available for cultural events since the careful renovation of its unique historical substance and the corresponding infrastructure. The Burghausen cultural office developed its own series of events for this magnificent location - "Culture in the monastery", which it also coordinates and organizes.

The range of festivals, concerts, cabaret performances and open-air events that take place as part of the "Culture in the Monastery" series is impressive: The intimate "Red Salon" is used for small, exclusive discussion formats. Readings as part of the literature festival "Literature Live", choir and orchestra concerts by regional and national top-class ensembles, entertaining cabaret events and special concerts with early music take place in the historic buildings, the protected courtyard or the romantic "Prelate Garden" and result in a lively , a series of events encompassing all cultural currents that is second to none.

The monastery ensemble is the perfect setting for exclusive rounds of talks, multi-day festivals such as the biennial "Look into the future" Whitsun Festival, contemporary yoga retreats or the open-air "Cultural and Cinema Summer Raitenhaslach".

Since the Technical University of Munich moved in, which set up an academy and training center in the rooms of the former prelate's floor in 2016, the ensemble has also developed into a platform for social and future issues. It secures the future of the venerable complex with its historic buildings.

"Encounter and contemplation" - this is the motto under which the monastery, which existed from 1146 to 1803, can be appropriately honored as a cultural site of the highest quality.
