The Burghausen chemical site can look back on more than 100 years of history. The Burghausen site is one of the most important economic factors in Bavaria as a high-tech location and one of the most important chemical regions in Europe.

Wacker Chemie AG has its largest site in the world in Burghausen. In addition to the MDax Group, other well-known companies operate in Burghausen with OMV Deutschland GmbH and Borealis Polymere GmbH. Siltronic AG, Linde AG and Westlake Vinnolit GmbH & Co.KG maintain production sites in Burghausen.

80 percent of the chemical and refinery products that are produced in Burghausen are sold by the companies worldwide.

These include polysilicon for photovoltaics, silicon wafers for microelectronics, silicones for the automotive and textile industries, and polymers for the construction industry. The chemical site in Burghausen is part of the "ChemDelta Bavaria", the Bavarian chemical triangle.
