family unit

There has been a family department in Burghausen since 2003. With the founding of the department, the city of Burghausen was the first municipality in the district to introduce a family department.

The family department is a contact point for Burghausen families and the parents' councils of the kindergartens. In addition, the family department strives for cooperation with the youth welfare office, the local day-care centers and schools and the numerous social institutions in Burghausen.

The family department pursues the goal of broadly anchoring the value of the family in society.

For this purpose, the family department, under the direction of the long-standing family officer Dorle Graf, creates a corresponding network and takes up ideas and improvements.

In recent years, the family department has initiated numerous events and significantly expanded what the city of Burghausen has to offer families. This is how the family department came into being

  • the Kindernest (care for children under the age of three in the community centre),
  • holiday care in schools,
  • the family home
  • the toy rental in the family home
  • the family breakfast for parents and parent councils
  • the flea market for children
  • the family day
  • the welcome greeting for newborns
  • the forest kindergarten
  • mobile educational advice
  • the unbureaucratic assumption of the costs of kindergarten fees for socially disadvantaged families

The compatibility of family and career is currently the focus of the tasks of the family department. Family advisor Dorle Graf therefore wants to optimize the situation in the Burghausen day-care centers. In addition, the family department is pursuing other plans that will make family life in Burghausen even more attractive and appealing than before.

cultural department

The Burghausen cultural department attaches great importance to the promotion of cultural diversity in the city and the corresponding infrastructure. The city's cultural program should appeal to as many people in the city as possible, but also to visitors from outside.

The Department of Culture pursues the goal of giving culture space in Burghausen and maintaining or promoting its high status in the city.

The cultural offer in Burghausen should bring people together. For this reason, on the one hand, it wants to convince with diversity and, on the other hand, distinguish Burghausen as a place of culture. It doesn't matter whether world stars come to the city on the Salzach or local artists show their skills.

The cultural department also focuses on promoting young talent - be it with the help of institutions such as the music-oriented Kurfürst-Maximilian-Gymnasium, the music school, or with the help of scholarship programs and prizes for young artists.

The culture department not only stays on traditional paths, but also breaks new ground: under the direction of the mayor and culture officer Florian Schneider, culture in Burghausen also takes place in unusual places throughout Burghausen - for example in the city park. Gladly also in unusual configurations such as an opera in the city park or a pop-up cinema on the Napoleonshöhe. In this way we can come full circle, reaching as many people as possible in the city with culture, because it is precisely in such places that encounters take place – between the people themselves and between culture and people.
