Above all, the Bürgerinsel wants to actively support senior citizens and continue to enable them to actively participate in life. If senior citizens need help or are not feeling well, they can contact the Bürgerinsel staff.

Since 2017 there has also been the AG Senioren, which campaigns for the interests of senior citizens in the city.

The Bürgerinsel offers financially disadvantaged residents of Burghausen the opportunity to attend events. Burghausen residents can visit cultural office events, SV Wacker home games or cinema screenings.

In the fall of 2023, Bürgerinsel started neighborhood assistance together with Pfarrcaritas Burghausen.

Volunteers who want to support people in need in everyday life can contact the Bürgerinsel. This then coordinates the offers of help for the people who need it.

Possible tasks that volunteers can take on include getting groceries or medication, accompanying you to doctor's appointments, carrying out small repair work or simply providing company. How and to what extent the helpers support is up to them.
