Exhibition Bernhard Edmeier House of Photography © Stadt Burghausen

Art exhibitions have a permanent place in Burghausen's cultural programme. Time and again, national and international artists fascinate those interested in art with their works in Burghausen.

In addition to the artistic works in the art exhibitions, the respective exhibition locations in the city are also impressive: Whether the House of Photography, the study church of St. Josef in der Zaglau, the project room at the town hall in the historic old town ensemble of Burghausen or in the castle - they all give the exhibitions a unique quality Flair.

The House of Photography is located at the entrance to the world's longest castle. Founded in 1983, the museum presents national and international temporary exhibitions on photography and video art. Contemporary photographers as well as positions from the 20th century can be seen.

The permanent gallery for contemporary photography with icons of photography from the museum's own collection and the museum's extensive camera collection, which depicts 170 years of photography, also offer a deeper understanding of the subject of photography.

A completely different kind of art exhibition venue can be found in the old town: the early baroque study church of St. Josef has been used for contemporary, top-class art in Burghausen since 2012. The pillar church of the former Jesuit college, with its enormous volume of space, is the ideal environment for large-format sculptures, sculptures and space-penetrating installations. The exuberant acoustics also enter into a dialogue with sound sculptures and musical experiments.

From the beginning of April to the end of October, changing exhibitions by international artists in the Studienkirche St. Josef invite you to visit, discover and explore in depth.

In the project space at the town hall in Burghausen's old town, contemporary art meets historical architecture. In the room from the 15th century, which is subdivided with deep cross ribs, artistic positions are constantly changing and presenting themselves to the public discourse. A concentrated space for visual arts that is open to experiments, questions, individual considerations and conceptual considerations.

The art exhibitions in the city of Burghausen house of photography, the project room and the Study Church of St. Joseph are all curated.

If that's not enough, there are other art venues in Burghausen. Sculptures by sculptors are distributed among other things in the public space of Burghausen.

Major exhibitions are held in Burghausen time and again, in which all art institutions and the public space are involved with different artistic positions on a topic.

Art is part of everyday urban life in Burghausen. Due to its presence in the cityscape, Burghausen's population as well as visitors to the city are concerned with art and its statements or questions. The city of Burghausen is thus dedicating itself to the subject of art and culture to the same extent that it has long cultivated it in the areas of sports and music.

For the city of Burghausen, art should be omnipresent.
