The city of Burghausen is facing major challenges with the goals of its sustainability concept for the areas of science, business and work. Together with the industrial companies in the ChemDelta, she is pursuing nothing other than the complete transformation of industry to climate neutrality.

The city also wants to face challenges that cause difficulties for municipalities nationwide - for example, the extinction of inner cities. It wants to keep its town center lively and present itself as an attractive shopping city

The city would also like to further develop the university and training location Burghausen in order to establish itself in the region as an interesting magnet for future generations. Burghausen already bears the title of Science City - as one of four cities in Germany.

In order to achieve its ambitious goals, the city is focusing on promoting Burghausen as a business and science location from a sustainability perspective, keeping it competitive and making it fit for future challenges

"Ultimately, sustainability means that I protect our earth and in this respect it is also important for us as an industrial company to operate sustainably because it actually secures the prosperity of our future".

dr Peter Gigler, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Wacker Chemie AG
