Since 1976, the "Music Summer between Inn and Salzach" has been a fixture in the regional concert and festival landscape of the five districts of Rosenheim, Traunstein, Mühldorf am Inn, Altötting and Berchtesgadener Land.
Herrmann Steinmaßl, former District Administrator, MdL a. D. and first chairman of the "Music Summer between Inn and Salzach eV" characterizes the series of events with clear words: "The home of the music summer, the land between Inn and Salzach, is a region with a great cultural history and rich treasures. Filling them with music is our mission – supported by the Free State of Bavaria, the participating counties, communities, church foundations, many honorary contributors, our association and sponsors from the economy... .”
What makes the summer of music so interesting when the internationally renowned festival cities of Munich and Salzburg are so close by?
It is the slightly different concept, the special triad of music, landscape and architecture. The musical summer experience begins as soon as you get to the concert venue: Far away from any urban hustle and bustle, the audience interested in music enjoys the summery pre-Alps landscape and looks forward to the greatest musical enjoyment in an architectural gem, with which the landscape between Inn and Salzach is so richly blessed.
The city of Burghausen, an extremely fascinating gem, supports the music summer between Inn and Salzach and has made its concert halls such as the city hall or the Aula maior in the former Raitenhaslach monastery available for concerts for many years. In addition, she cooperates in church concerts in the former monastery church of St. Georg Raitenhaslach or the church of Marienberg, both late baroque gems, as well as in concerts in the acoustically and visually inspiring large auditorium of the Kurfürst-Maximilian-Gymnasium.
Since 2022, the city of Burghausen has also been one of the members of the "Music Summer between Inn and Salzach eV"
