The Johannes Hess elementary school is the largest and oldest elementary school in Burghausen. In 2019, the school was extensively remodeled and renovated.
The namesake Johannes Hess was technical director of Wacker Chemie from 1917. Under him, the group developed into one of the leading chemical companies in Germany.

The Johannes Hess School is currently a school on the move and is opening up to the city and urban associations. We are involved in the MIT! democracy school experiment, are on our way to the environmental school with the (G)Ackerschule, are digitally well equipped and offer the children a variety of support with the all-day teaching form. We are a lively school and are currently trying out how much self-determination our school children can live beyond the student parliament.

The school cooperates closely with kindergartens in the vicinity, so that the transition from kindergarten to primary school is as smooth as possible.

Together with the Burghausen Music School, the Johannes Hess School offers its 3rd and 4th graders the opportunity to learn either the guitar or percussion together in special classes.
