There are several fire brigades in Burghausen: the Burghausen volunteer fire brigade, the Raitenhaslach volunteer fire brigade and the Wacker factory fire brigade. Under the motto "rescue, extinguish, protect, recover", the fire brigades ensure the protection of the residents of Burghausen and Raitenhaslach. The two volunteer fire brigades are called out on average to more than 250 calls per year.

The Burghausen and Raitenhaslach fire brigades are not professional fire brigades, but rely on the voluntary commitment of their members. This commitment of the more than 100 active members is the cornerstone of the volunteer fire brigades in Burghausen and Raitenhaslach and thus an essential part of security in Burghausen.

The Wacker plant fire brigade helps the volunteer fire brigades on missions that are particularly challenging, for example due to the escape of hazardous substances. You can find more information about the plant fire brigade on the Brochure of the works fire brigade.

“Since 1863, volunteers have been involved in the Burghausen volunteer fire brigade, are available to the population around the clock with qualified help within a few minutes and offer protection and safety in the city and surrounding area. In addition to young people from the youth fire brigade, we depend on career changers and supporting members in order to be able to maintain voluntary fire extinguishing and safety in the future."

Thomas Lindner, Chairman of the Burghausen Volunteer Fire Department

Vocational Training

All fire service personnel have received comprehensive basic training. Many have also completed additional training. Regular further training, courses and almost weekly practice evenings are part of the everyday life of a firefighter. In Burghausen there is a fire simulation system as well as a respiratory protection training course, with which firefighters can practice using the heavy respiratory protection equipment and regularly check their physical resilience.

Youth fire brigade

The Burghausen volunteer fire brigade was the first fire brigade in the district to set up a youth group. Here, young people from the age of 12 are introduced to active service in an age-appropriate manner and undergo basic fire-fighting training. The young people complete theoretical and practical exercises. In addition to training to become a firefighter, the Burghausen Volunteer Fire Department also offers youth activities such as camps.

Anyone interested in the youth work of the Burghausen volunteer fire brigade should contact youth warden Anton Maier at T. + 49 8677 878 954 or jugend@feuerwehr-burghausen.de.
