The city of Burghausen is a colorful and diverse city. This is also reflected in the city's politics: the three mayors belong to three different parties, and there are representatives from five parties on the city council.

The city council is the political representation of the citizens of Burghausen. As the highest body in the city, it decides on all important matters. Committees are responsible for certain areas of responsibility, which discuss the issues at hand and then propose them to the city council for resolution.

The mayor or city council appoints the city’s officers.

Institutions such as the integration advisory board work closely with the political decision-makers in the city of Burghausen.

The city of Burghausen attaches great importance to the participation of its citizens. She wants them to be involved in what is happening in the city. At the citizens' meeting, during the mayor's office hours or in the citizens' council, the residents of Burghausen have the opportunity, among other things, to contribute their opinions, suggestions and ideas for the development of the city of Burghausen.

"Together with the citizens, I want to make Burghausen sustainable - innovative, climate-neutral, economically and culturally strong - and above all with this unique Burghausen flair and social cohesion."

Florian Schneider, Mayor of Burghausen
