Successful combination: “Music for Peace” and Sunday shopping bring in 10.000 euros for aid organizations

A complete success despite the cool April weather: the charity music festival and Sunday shopping attracted numerous visitors to Burghausen, who donated a sum of almost 10.000 euros.

Burghausen, April 24, 2024. The charity street music festival “Music for Peace” wasn’t exactly under the best of stars last Sunday: the elaborate planning of the festival had to be changed the day before the event. The reason: weather forecasts that predicted sleet in addition to cool temperatures. Instead of the 24 outdoor locations that had been planned for a long time, 21 indoor locations were quickly organized by the dedicated organizational team around Erik Bönisch, Max Roxton and Susanne Kramlinger from Burghauser Touristik GmbH. Shops, municipal houses and restaurants in the old and new towns as well as in the world's longest castle finally offered around 300 musicians a roof over their heads and protection for their sensitive musical instruments on Sunday.

Music in shopping streets, beer gardens and at the castle

After a short welcome speech by the organizers in the community center, the charity street music festival “Music for Peace” opened with the joint song “We are the World”. Despite the unsettled weather, the sun came out in many cases so that the musicians were able to play outside for the most part. A variety of musical entertainment was heard in the shopping streets and beer gardens throughout the entire shopping Sunday. The atmosphere was exuberant and the various genres of music thrilled the visitors, who were very generous.

Enormous willingness to donate

Despite fewer visitors than the previous year, the willingness to donate was overwhelming. A total of 8.722,98 euros were collected, with First Mayor Florian Schneider increasing the donation amount to 10.000 euros on behalf of the city of Burghausen. 100 percent of the amount goes to the children's aid organizations BALU, Suibamoond and Kinderhospiz München eV, which presented their activities at information stands in the community center.

Positive response

Both initiators Max Roxton and Erik Bönisch agree: “The success of “Music for Peace” is outstanding. He shows us once again what a unifying power music has; not just between the musicians, but above all to those we are supporting this year: the children in need.” Mayor Schneider also praised the event: “The charity street music festival “Music for Peace” is really a great one Event that brings people together through music, connects them and encourages them to donate to a good cause.” After the event, the city leader invited all musicians to dinner together in the community center. There the successful charity day came to a successful end with lively discussions and joint jam sessions.
