A modern classic is coming to Burghausen for the 5th and final show of the season on April 27th in the Stadtsaal

April 19, 2024. On Saturday, April 27, at 20 p.m., the touring theater Poetenpack will be coming to the Stadtsaal with the piece “KUNST” by Yasmina Reza. The actors will give a short introduction to the piece in the Helmbrecht Hall at 19:30 p.m. Serge bought a monochrome oil painting, white with white stripes. And expensive, really expensive. This picture sparks an argument between three friends. Serge is enthusiastic about the painting, his friend Marc simply thinks it's "shit". Yvan doesn't want to take a position so as not to spoil things for his friends. Deep rifts open up between the men and their long-standing, close relationship is suddenly at risk. The image serves as a catalyst with which the author eloquently and comically analyzes a situation in a very subtle and psychologically finely drawn way that puts three men, their feelings, their mental state, their friendship and their previous existence to the test and into question. Bitter and funny at the same time, it also asks the question: What is art?

Yasmina Reza is the most performed contemporary playwright, “who writes comedies that are so light that you don't even notice how difficult they are” (Gerhard Stadelmaier). She became internationally famous with Art, which premiered in Paris in 1994 and was awarded the Prix Molière and the Tony Award, among others. For author Yasmina Reza, it is a piece about the inability to laugh together. “The drama of 'Art' is not that Serge buys the white picture, but that you can no longer laugh with him. If you can laugh with a friend, then you can have all kinds of differences with him.”

The Poetenpack Theater is a free, professional theater that has an ensemble of selected freelance artists. The focus of the multifaceted repertoire is on productions of classics, which are complemented by modern chamber plays and musical-literary programs. The poet pack receives particular appreciation for its excellent linguistic culture. Theater Poetenpack has been to Burghausen several times.
