25.000 m of fiber optics will be laid - funded by the Bavarian State Government

Fast internet is now just as much a basic service as running water or electricity. In Burghausen, however, there are still a few so-called “white spots” where there is a transmission rate of less than 30 Mbit/s. The final broadband expansion in the city area by Deutsche Telekom recently began, so that there will no longer be any of these “white spots” in Burghausen from summer 2024.

The Bavarian state government is promoting broadband expansion. The investment costs for the expansion in Burghausen amount to around 1,1 million euros. The state government will cover 830.000 euros of this. A total of 25.000 m of fiber optics will be laid in the city by summer and eight network distribution cabinets will be set up. Existing cable ducts can often be used. However, new pipes will be laid over seven kilometers.

“Burghausen is a city worth living in and should remain so. And these days that includes fast and stable internet access. With the construction project, the broadband expansion in Burghausen will be completed by summer 2024 and all parts of the city will be supplied with fast internet. “That’s good news,” explains First Mayor Florian Schneider.

In order to be able to use the new broadband, homeowners and tenants must strive for faster internet themselves. Property owners book a fiber optic tariff and give their consent. The house will then be connected free of charge. Anyone who lives in a rented apartment only needs to have a fiber optic tariff www.telekom.de/glasfarben complete. Telekom takes care of the agreement with the owner.
